Convenient, Comfortable Teeth Straightening
Invisalign® is the most modern, convenient and comfortable way to straighten your teeth. Using custom created aligner trays, which are virtually invisible when worn, your smile is corrected and beautifully improved without the metal brackets and wires of traditional braces. Most people will not even notice you are wearing Invisalign, and the trays are crafted of plastic with smooth surfaces for greater comfort without pinch, mouth sores or other problems common to standard metal braces.
Enjoy the Foods You Love
While going through Invisalign teeth straightening, patients are also able to continue eating foods which are typically sacrificed during wear of traditional braces. Favorite foods can still be enjoyed, such as popcorn, pizza crust, bagels, nuts, apples, corn on the cob and candies which often damage metal orthodontia. There is also no embarrassment from food particles stuck on brackets and wires, which is almost unavoidable when eating with metal braces.
Invisalign vs. Veneers
A common question is whether veneers are an option to the teeth straightening provided by Invisalign. Veneers provide beautiful, white surfaces for the front of teeth. But they do not actually correct tooth positioning or gum issues. Veneers merely cover up flaws, versus actually fixing alignment issues. Veneers also require a lot of care, are expensive, involve irreversible damage to tooth surfaces and must be replaced every five to ten years. With veneers, patients are not able to enjoy things they may with Invisalign, such as red wine, coffee and other foods and beverages which stain or discolor veneers.
Additional Benefits of Invisalign
Benefits of Invisalign as compared to other methods such as traditional braces and veneers are:
- Removable trays for wear at appropriate times
- Normal, unobstructed teeth brushing and flossing
- Little, if any, irritation to cheeks and gums
- Only one office visit every four to six weeks
- Teen programs provide replacements if lost or broken
- Permanent teeth straightening and correction
The process of Invisalign teeth straightening is a much more convenient form of treatment than traditional braces, although customization and quality of care are not sacrificed. Below is a typical process for treatment at MB Orthondontics, from beginning to end:
Selection of Your Provider
The first step in your path to a beautiful, straight smile is to select the right orthodontist for you. Dr. Brown is a caring, experienced and Invisalign-trained treatment provider ready to help you achieve your most attractive smile. Through an initial consultation, we will work with you to determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign teeth straightening. We will also discuss costs, insurance and any concerns you may have as a candidate for Invisalign wear.
Creation of a Custom Treatment Plan
Through x-rays, tooth impressions and a thorough exam, MB Orthodontics will create an individualized treatment plan designed for you to achieve your ultimate smile in the least amount of time. We will determine how your teeth must be moved through use of the Invisalign trays and can even show you a virtual depiction of expected changes you will experience during treatment. A typical expectation for adult Invisalign teeth straightening is about one year. Teens will wear Invisalign for about the same amount of time as traditional braces.
Aligner Tray Wear and Progression
You will soon receive your custom crafted, comfortable Invisalign trays. Aligner trays are worn for approximately 22 to 24 hours per day. They are removed for teeth brushing and other oral care. Each upper and lower tray is used for two weeks of wear, then thrown away and replaced with the next set of treatment trays. As they are worn, the trays carefully and precisely guide your teeth into a corrected position. Each tray moves your teeth further along through the treatment plan and closer to the goal for your ultimate smile.
Once all of the Invisalign trays have been properly worn, you will enjoy the final, beautiful results. Your orthodontist at MB Orthodontics will review the outcome and provide advice for maintenance of your wonderful smile.
